On this night, so the legends say, the Great Mother gives birth to the Sun-Child, who is the bringer of hope and the promise of summer.

Winter Solstice is a time for reflecting on the quiet times of darkness - for making choices to leave negative life patterns within the darkness of the night; and a time for joyously celebrating the return of the light - for birthing new projects, dreams and aspirations.

The Holly-King dies
and the
Oak-King is born.

I thought this was a wonderful story and just like The Night Before Christmas, deserves to be read to our young pagan children.
I do not know who wrote this, it came to me last year via a group I was on. If you know who wrote this please let me know so I can give proper credit.
